I read this book a while ago and had a lot to say, but now that I think about it, it was SATISFACTORY AT MOST. The hype around this series was MAD. I categorise romance as the worst genre in books unless of course it has a very superior plotline.
The author itself has an okay-ish writing style and has a very generic plotline. She could have done so much with the characters and their backgrounds, but I found it very repetitive and had no originality.
Now IF, you haven’t read the books, I will give you a short summary. The twisted series written by Ana Huang, is a 4 book series revolving around 4 friends. So these books are centred around Ava Chen, Stella Chapman, Jules Ambrose, Bridget von Ascheberg and their book boyfriends. The central trope for these books is devilishly handsome and very disturbed boyfriends who consider themselves undeserving to love.
That is basically IT, to summarise she used every trope and even double tropes to hide the fact that there is absolutely no plot. The tropes were generic, but so much more could be done than just showing the trope as is and not to mention the AMOUNT OF REPETITION in each book like brother ZERO ORGINALITY?? The leads were saying the same stuff to each other in the books, and the AMOUNT of smut, especially in the 2nd book, is so disgusting and cringe. Overall, the hype is way too much like every other TikTok rom-com recommendation. But it’s an experience except the 2nd book so you can read 👍
I’m not done yet..
Now, I am going to convince you to read the 3rd book Twisted, Hate because it contains the best trope and their relationship had much depth. The above quote is from one of my favourite parts of the book, their bookstore date and it’s beautiful because it’s thoughtful and cute and it’s the part before everything falls apart.
That’s it for the spoilers.
I am done with my yap.
Bye.
Twisted love was so mid
Twisted games was nice idk why u disliked it sm😭
Twisted hate had an insane amount of smut which I hated but the enemies to lovers was fireeeeeeee. Jules’s one liners and the banter? I lived for it.
